Just yesterday (7 Mar 2023), Lee Hsien Yang wrote a tear-inducing Facebook post describing how he was “forced” to flee Singapore. However, if you look deeper, you’ll realize that his actions highlight that privilege really allows people to be above the law. All they had to do is buy plane tickets to skip town to evade responsibility and accountability for his actions and statements.

His decision to leave the country shows that he is not committed to resolving the family disputes in a responsible manner.

Lee Hsien Yang and Lee Suet Fern are under investigation for giving false evidence in judicial proceedings over founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew’s will.

Instead of staying in Singapore until the case has been concluded, he decides to evade responsibility and accountability. His departure from Singapore indicates a lack of respect for the country and its institutions.

If he is really trying to fight for his father’s will like he says he is, leaving Singapore does not resolve the issues at hand. It is important for all parties to remain engaged in the process of finding a resolution to the dispute, yet he decides to just leave.

The Oxley Road saga is really about the preservation of Lee Kuan Yew’s legacy.

Lee Kuan Yew was a visionary leader who laid the foundations for Singapore’s success today. It is important that future generations are reminded of his contributions and the sacrifices he made for the nation.

The preservation of the house at 38 Oxley Road is a crucial part of this legacy. It was the home where Lee Kuan Yew lived and worked for many years and played a significant role in his political career. Maintaining the house as a historical landmark would provide an opportunity for future generations to learn about the beginnings of Singapore and its rise to prosperity.

It is understandable that there may be disagreements within the family over the fate of the house. However, it is crucial that a decision is made with the interest of preserving Lee Kuan Yew’s legacy and the significance of the house in mind.

Lee Hsien Yang’s view on Oxley Road is selfish and misguided.

It seems that he is more interested in tearing down the house for his own personal gain than respecting the wishes of his father and preserving an important part of Singapore’s history. He is also causing unnecessary drama and public spectacle by airing his family’s dirty laundry in the media.

His actions have brought Singapore’s reputation into question, with foreign media highlighting the saga as a power struggle within Singapore’s ruling family. Others have focused on the allegations of abuse of power and the potential erosion of trust in the government.

Overall, Lee Hsien Yang’s views on Oxley Road are shortsighted and focused solely on his own interests, rather than considering the bigger picture and the impact his actions may have on Singapore as a whole. The way in which he handled this has been extremely immature.
